After a fire had destroyed two existing portables at the oldest school in Portland, OR; Portland Public Schools needed to quickly and affordably replace the old structures. To accommodate Lincoln High School there are four classrooms, two stand-alone restroom units, a 14-foot-wide welcome ramp, and a steel canopy system.
TIME TO COMPLETE:
120 days from order to occupancy.
Portland Public Schools was looking for a sustainable solution and found that in the SAGE Classroom. Large overhangs were designed to protect the classrooms from unwanted heat gain. Skylights and large clerestory windows were installed in each classroom to add natural lighting and reduce the amount of energy used. Due to the historic landscape surrounding the school, special precautions were taken to ensure there was no permanent alteration of the surrounding area.
