The interior of the center features bright and varied colors, large windows, and spacious classrooms. It incorporates lighting control features, daylighting features, water flow and temperature control, and an HVAC system designed to maintain optimum interior summer temperatures without the use of air conditioning. The exterior of the building features a staggered silhouette created by using modules of varying size. It also features strategic pop-outs to maximize interior hallway space and cantilevered balconies opening from two of the classrooms. The roof is white TPO, a product approved by various agencies, including the California Cool Roof Rating Council for its eco-friendly qualities. The Kirkham Childcare Center is a Title 24 compliant building that exceeds energy commission by ten percent or more.
