Centralia Community College Early Learning Center
Centralia Community College needed to replace an early learning center that no longer met their needs. Completely retrofitting and moving the existing building was not an option financially and it would simply take too long. This solution met their budget, could be built quickly, and could also be designed to their exact specifications.
The L-shaped building includes three classrooms, one conference room, an office, and a lunch and kitchen area. Two of the classrooms have easy access to the play area in the back of the building and the other classroom is on the interior. Each classroom includes ample cabinets and sinks, as well as a private bathroom for the kids. The windows are larger than standard windows to increase natural daylight known to stimulate learning. The structure also features an open beam with vaulted ceilings and a change air mechanical system, which brings in 600 CFM of fresh air into each classroom. The early learning center met the budgetary and quick installation needs of Centralia Community College with a modular solution that fit in seamlessly with the surrounding area and makes ideal use of the lot size and grounds for a fully-functional daycare facility with a playground.
