Merced Ranchero Health Center

Pacific Mobile Structures collaborated with Phoenix Modular, TPH Architects, and Quickset Construction to deliver a state-of-the-art, 4,320 sq. ft. permanent modular medical facility for Golden Valley Health Centers. Located adjacent to a local school campus, the Merced Ranchero Health Center provides accessible healthcare services to Merced City School
District students and community members, offering comprehensive medical and dental care.

The facility includes six exam rooms, three large operatory rooms, a spacious waiting area, restrooms with floor-to-ceiling ceramic tile, ample medical equipment storage, and
accommodations for future digital and lighting upgrades.

To blend with the school’s surrounding architecture, the modular facility was designed to mimic traditional construction, featuring Hardie siding, a durable concrete material resembling site-installed stucco, and a visually appealing aluminum reveal. The structure also includes a 30-ft. Mapes covered entry, offering functional and aesthetic appeal. Constructing the building offsite allowed us to focus on critical electrical safety requirements within a controlled environment. Despite facing poor weather conditions, our team was able to install the foundation and place the building within a month—significantly faster than conventional onsite construction.

We successfully navigated several unique challenges throughout the project. The building’s exterior siding, which was not designed for transport, required extreme care during delivery and installation to maintain its durability and appearance. Additionally, we overcame
California’s transport height restriction of 14 feet for the 17-foot-tall structure, ensuring safe delivery and efficient setup on-site. To balance stability and future flexibility, we utilized an
innovative foundation approach, combining a permanent concrete foundation with a pier and
pad system, making future relocation easier.

Designed for long-term adaptability, the facility also includes provisions for future overhead lighting, upgraded water systems, and advanced medical technologies, which we supported through our partnership with Midmark Dental and Medical. Funded by federal grants and established on land donated by the school, this project provides essential healthcare access to families, including health education, uninsured student care, and general community health support. The Merced Ranchero Health Center is another milestone in Golden Valley
Health Centers’ long-standing partnership with Pacific Mobile Structures, selected for our
commitment to quality and seamless project execution.
