Shaving for a Cause: Rallying $25,000 for Children's Bereavement Center
In the spirit of fun and philanthropy, we are excited to announce our ambitious goal: raising $25,000 for the Children’s Bereavement Center of South Texas (CBCST) by Thursday, August 15th, at 12pm Pacific Time. This is no ordinary fundraiser—our very own VP, Tom Coyle, has boldly committed to shaving his head if we hit this target!
The Napkin Deal Revisited
The roots of this challenge stretch back to a momentous day on April 25, 2014. During an offsite meeting in 2015, a casual conversation turned into a spirited challenge. Tom Coyle, in a spontaneous act of generosity, agreed to shave his head in exchange for a donation to the Wounded Warriors. What began as a light-hearted dare quickly materialized into a signed napkin contract, etched with bold commitments. This memorable napkin, now encased in protective glass, marked the beginning of a tradition that would leave Tom and colleagues Garth Haakenson and Markus Alley sporting very short haircuts.
Fast forward to 2024, and Gretchen Moore has ingeniously revived this tradition, presenting Tom with a new napkin contract. In jest, Tom cited “massive inflation” and upped the ante to $25,000 for his treasured locks. True to her resourceful nature, Gretchen rallied the team, with several Pacific Mobile employees generously volunteering their own hair, beards, and even eyebrows to raise funds for CBCST.

This incredible non-profit organization offers vital support to children and parents who have lost a loved one, helping them find solace and healing. As a dedicated member of the center’s Board of Directors for the past five years, Tom Coyle has witnessed firsthand the profound impact of CBCST’s work on the community.
