Yakima School District Discovery Early Learning Academy
The Yakima School District faced an urgent need for additional space to accommodate the growing number of children enrolling in their daycare program. Recognizing the need for a rapid and cost-effective solution, they chose to expand their existing facilities with a modular building. This approach not only ensured timely completion despite unforeseen challenges but also offered superior quality and budget predictability compared to traditional stick-built construction.
Given the project’s tight timeframe, a modular building was the optimal solution. A traditional stick-built structure would have required at least two years to complete. Despite encountering several project delays, the modular construction process was still significantly faster. Additionally, the modular approach allowed for greater control over the budget while delivering a higher-quality building than what could have been achieved through conventional construction methods.
The Yakima School District has been a longstanding partner of Pacific Mobile Structures (PMSI). When the need for additional space arose, the district naturally turned to PMSI for their expertise and reliable service. This project further solidifies the trust and collaboration between the two organizations.
The new building was strategically placed on an open field adjacent to existing school facilities and near the gym, making efficient use of the available space. Pacific Mobile Structures managed the entire project, from engineering and civil work to final construction, working closely with the school district throughout the process. Despite facing significant challenges beyond their control, the PMSI team successfully navigated these obstacles, delivering the project as if they had never occurred. This project stands as a testament to the resilience and dedication of the Pacific Mobile Structures team, who delivered a high-quality educational facility under challenging conditions, reinforcing their long-standing relationship with the Yakima School District.
