Clayco South Pier Logistics
Clayco undertook the construction of a significant mixed-use tower, encompassing retail, residential, and hospitality spaces on the revitalized Tempe Town Lake. The project posed unique challenges due to its underground parking garage component and proximity to the lake, requiring extensive engineering and design considerations.
Without nearby office space for direct project oversight, Clayco turned to trusted modular construction partner, Pacific Mobile Structures. While having worked together in other markets, this marked Clayco’s inaugural project with them in Arizona. Clayco values their commitment to delivering on time with speed and ease.
Pacific Mobile Structures provided four 24X60 buildings and placed them on a limited asphalt section with a median, approximately 200 yards from the lake with a trans lift.
The buildings are connected by a deck, ramp, and stair system to foster collaboration among segmented project teams. The deck also serves as access for suppliers, owners, and inspectors, allowing personnel to seamlessly transition from offices to the jobsite.
The interior of each mobile office incorporates occupancy sensors to adhere to current energy codes. Tailored floorplans accommodate diverse needs, featuring open office spaces, private offices, conference rooms, break rooms, and huddle rooms. Additional windows were strategically installed in two of the buildings to provide project managers and the engineering team with a direct view of the ongoing project from their workspaces. Externally, the buildings showcase a branded color scheme, shaded outdoor collaboration areas, and white EPDM roofs for enhanced energy efficiency.
This project holds special significance as it contributes to the expansion of one of Arizona’s thriving markets—a realization of the late Senator John McCain’s enduring vision.
